2008 - 2012 Strategic Plan
The New Mexico School for the Deaf strategic plan is designed for continuous improvement. As such it contains two components.
The first component is the on-going operational efforts of the school clearly guided by its mission, vision and beliefs. This strategy includes maintaining high quality comprehensive instructional and whole child development programs in an interactive, accessible environment for its deaf and hard of hearing students including a residential component on its Santa Fe campus and satellite Preschool programs in Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Farmington. In addition, NMSD has a state wide Early Intervention program and extensive state wide Outreach opportunities for families, professionals/support staff and educators of children who attend their local schools. The structure and model of these overarching programs operationalizes services to the whole state of NM wherever there is an infant, child or student who is deaf or hard of hearing. Information on each of these programs can be found on this website.
The second component of the strategic plan results from an annual analysis of its programs and services. This process identifies opportunities to expand programs and enhance NMSD’s responsiveness to the needs of deaf and hard of hearing infants, children and youth and their families in New Mexico.
