Title: Early Interventionist

Reports to: Step*Hi Regional Supervisor

Salary: Based on education and experience

Deadline: Open until filled (Interviews to begin March, 2012)

Starting: July 1, 2012

Qualifications:

Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Parent/Infant Education, Education of the Deaf, or related field. Family Infant Toddler Program Developmental Specialist Certification III (or ability to attain). A knowledge of IDEA Part C. Experience in providing home based intervention to children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Fluent ASL and English skills. Fluency in Spanish preferred. Willing to Travel.

Primary Duties:

The New Mexico School for the Deaf provides a home intervention program for parents of deaf and hard of hearing children ages 0-6. The Early Interventionist providing this service is responsible for maintaining contacts/home visits and working toward outcomes in accordance with the Individualized Family Service Plan/ Individualized Service Plan (IFSP/ISP). Additionally, the Early Interventionist provides documentation of intervention activities that includes, but is not limited to: Contact Logs, ongoing Assessment information, and Individualized Family Service Plan/ Individualized Service Plan Updates. Early Interventionists are expected to keep their skills and knowledge current through ongoing training to keep their Developmental Specialist Certification current. Early Interventionist will be required to go through Service Coordination training. Resources, mentoring, monitoring, and support are provided by Regional Supervisors and other Step*Hi staff.

Although the above are typical of the duties and responsibilities normally performed, additional duties and responsibilities requiring the same or lesser skills, knowledge and dexterity may be required.
