Library
The goal of the NMSD Library is to foster a lifetime love of learning and reading in all of NMSD’s students. NMSD’s library staff strives to make the library a warm and welcoming place to interact with books and to learn. NMSD’s new library building opened in the fall of 2014 and houses over 25,000 books in addition to magazines and other forms of print media. The building also houses the museum as well as curricular resources and textbooks that are used in the classrooms.
With the ongoing evolution of technology, NMSD’s Library has grown to incorporate a variety of online resources including the online version of Encyclopedia Britannica. The library staff provides a variety of library skills, storytelling and reading development workshops in conjunction with the Common Core State Standards. The Library Staff is also responsible for facilitating a variety of motivational programs to support all students’ love for reading.

Technology & Media
With the ever-changing world of technology, NMSD strives to prepare students for the use of technology in their lives post-graduation. Technology has the potential to level the playing field for NMSD’s Deaf and hard of hearing students in that it gives unprecedented visual access to information and language/communication. Moreover, technology creates career opportunities that did not previously exist for Deaf students. NMSD is committed to maximizing the use of technology as it relates to increasing its students' knowledge, skills, and career preparation.
Technology and Media Resources: Each of NMSD's classrooms is equipped with a variety of equipment including but not limited to computers, SmartBoards with LCD projectors and document readers. Other equipment is also provided for specific classrooms as appropriate including iPads, digital cameras and video equipment. NMSD also has two multimedia labs in addition to a multimedia TV and film studio complete with video editing equipment and programs. NMSD’s secondary level students also participate in a laptop program in which they receive laptops available for use at school and at home.
