NMSD’s elementary program conforms to the Common Core State Standards and New Mexico state standards and benchmarks. The elementary classes are specifically tailored to suit each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The development of language, literacy, creativity, and critical thinking skills in all curricular areas is emphasized throughout the school day.
NMSD’s students participate in seven classes each day, including Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Physical Education/Health. Each quarter, students take various quarter-length classes that introduce them to new concepts and possibilities.
