SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) — The New Mexico School for the Deaf celebrated 140 years of teaching the Santa Fe community this week.
The school has a long history that actually predates New Mexico’s own statehood. It became the state’s first public school, and today serves more than 700 students who are deaf or hard of hearing. On Monday, they celebrated with a party, a parade, and of course, birthday cake.
