NMSD high school student Elias Curley will take the stage during the 102nd Burning of Zozobra on September 4, 2026, where he will perform the National Anthem in American Sign Language.
Elias is a 16-year-old Navajo student from Santa Fe and a junior at the New Mexico School for the Deaf. In addition to his involvement in performing arts, he is an active member of the NMSD track team and enjoys drawing and collecting Hot Wheels.
This exciting opportunity allows Elias to share his talent, creativity, and the vibrancy of ASL with thousands of attendees at one of New Mexico’s most celebrated traditions. We are incredibly proud to have him represent NMSD and the Deaf community on such an iconic stage.
